Jatinder Singh
Certificate in Screen and Performing Arts Level 3
Success story
After high school, Jatinder Singh didn't have enough credits to get into Unitec to study Performing Arts, however he discovered that BEST's Pacific Institute of Performing Arts, based at Unitec, didn't have an entry requirement other than a passion for the industry, so he enrolled in the Certificate in Screen and Performing Arts. Jatinder graduated in 2004.
The programme taught him "hands-on" skills and how to "approach people in the industry" but most importantly, "gave me the skills and confidence to audition for the BA in Performing Arts at Unitec ... where I majored in Acting."
Since gaining his degree, he's been involved in numerous theatre work and has been touring "non-stop" with a number of different companies. He recently toured with a small theatre group called "Books in Homes", where he did 220 performances throughout the North Island.
"I'm pretty booked up for most of 2009", is the best way to describe Jatinder's success in his chosen career. He's currently rehearsing for "The Outfit" by the Duffy Theatre Group, founded by Director Allan Duff.
"At BEST, it was easy to get along with people and to share our vision and passions for our Art. I had the best tutors there.
